Hey there readers, you might not know me, but I'm also a fellow INTO student and my name is Hubert. And as all of you 2nd year students at INTO know, it is a PAIN to have to figure everything out on the first few days of your arrival. So here goes... an honest list, of all the things I wish I had known about INTO UEA (as well as all the things I wish I had brought with me).

  • The cleaning staff change your bed sheets every 2 weeks

  • It costs £8 to get the laundry card from reception (with £5 already in it) and the website to top it up is https://www.circuit.co.uk/

  • Tesco is the cheapest, closest convenient store that you should buy groceries or Marks & Spencers in the city centre

Address: Earlham Rd, Earlham, Norwich NR4 7TF/

  • When you order a package or are expecting a package, don't forget to write your room number on the address. This way you will get your package delivered right to your room

  • For us INTO students, you can always use INTO UEA's Resource Centre to study compared to going to the library, just because it is closer. But if you want the vibes of a larger library, then you can use the library on UEA campus

  • Expect to walk, like a LOT. Most of us here in the INTO UEA centre are Asians and almost half of the countries in Asia mostly use cars and motorbikes as their main method of transportation. Here? It's walking

  • If you don't like walking, then you can always use the bus which runs regularly from UEA campus to the city centre (Numbers 25 & 26 - don't take 25a and 26a as they take longer to get there). If you have at least four people travelling to the city centre then buy a group ticket (High Five ticket, it costs £10)

  • DON'T FORGET TO BRING FOOD FROM YOUR HOME COUNTRY. Especially instant noodles, you'll regret not bringing the extra 5 packets of Indomie.

  • For those of you who can't live without rice, we do suggest you buy a small rice cooker. It's very convenient and clean

  • Bring a large file binder and a calculator from home

  • Don't be surprised when it rains suddenly - be prepared with a raincoat and not an umbrella as more often than not it is windy!

  • And last but is definitely the most important, ask reception anything. How do you flush the toilet? Ask reception. How do you work the hob? Ask reception. How do you wash the dishes? Ask reception. (But I mean come on, CLEAN YOUR DISHES IN THE KITCHEN... It's a common room, not your bedroom)
